If you haven’t heard, ESPN will be focusing on the use of Twitter more this year. Not only will the ESPN staff focus more on writing, they will also follow around 2000 athletes on Twitter and post those results on their show. During the NFL lockout, I know I have seen much more focus on Twitter during the ESPN broadcasts.
As one of my friends said, “do we really care what many athletes are tweeting?” Have you noticed ESPN focusing more on Twitter the past few weeks or is it just me? Do you care about the increase of Twitter on ESPN? Do you like the idea? Let me hear your thoughts as I’d love to hear what you think about ESPN and Twitter.
Here’s an article I found about “ESPN will now take over Twitter“

Hey Doug. I haven’t been paying attention on ESPN but I did watch some of “NFL Update” on the NFL Network last night. It seemed like any time they put the name of one of the hosts on screen, they also showed their twitter name. Warren Sapp is @qbkilla. Which I found amusing. I wonder how this will all shake out with Google+ in the mix now. I think + will eat into twitter first – longer posts, easier uploads, better security/control. Is @michael.a.lally all I am going to need going forward?
Def Mike! It will be interesting to see how this factors in during the regular season. I was thinking the same thing with Google+, but I think it will take some more time for them to start using it. Look how long it took them to start using Twitter. Plus not many people / athletes are on Google+ yet… time will tell if they start jumping on Twitter.
