Hi Doug. Sorry its taken me so long to get here. One odd thing I am seeing is an increase in the number of random invites I am getting on Linkedin (and facebook) to some extent. But I am being asked for connections from people I have never heard of - I haven't tracked it but I believe they are spamming everyone that has worked at a company they have worked. It is annoying. And EVERY one of them uses the generic invite message. "You're someone I trust." I'm considering sending them back a message that asks them for their social security number. :)

I'd have to say the one largest trend that I've seen in January is location based social media - FourSquare, Gowalla, Yelp (w/ check-ins). With FourSquare expanding nationally I think it's opened up a lot of people eye to the location "game" and it will be interesting to see how brands start using these things to their advantage.
