Last week, I had the opportunity to listen to a webinar with representatives of Google, Microsoft and Yahoo discussing their plans for the coming year regarding search engines and other ideas. There were some good questions answered by all three and I think we will be seeing some exciting things by all three search engines next year. I am looking forward to it.

The one question on the webinar that struck me was: Where will your company being spending money in next year? Either in social media, SEO services, PPC campaigns or somewhere else? SEO won hands down. That surprised me. I am happy to see that, of course, because that is one thing that I do, but from what I have heard from many others the past few months is they will be spending much more money & time in social media.

So let me ask, what are your plans for next year? Is the survey answers true or are you planning on using more social media next year to get more business? I would love to hear your opinion.

You have all seen the commercials – MAC vs PC and now the famous “You find it, we’ll buy it” laptop hunter commercials. Over 6 months ago, I started using a Macbook Pro laptop for my daily work. I can proudly say that I most likely will never go back to using a PC. Over the weekend, I had to redo an XP machine for my wife’s office and I figured I would blog about the 5 reasons why I love using a MAC vs PC:

1. I call it “driver hell”! After installing XP on my wife’s machine, half of the devices didn’t work. So, I spent a good chunk of my Saturday figuring out why things weren’t working and looking for updated drivers. When I plug in anything into the MAC, it works like it should. Perfect!

2. The rumor that you wouldn’t be able to find an application that works for a MAC as a PC, is false. Since I started using the Macbook pro this past fall, I’ve been able to find an application for everything that I used on my PC. The applications even run better on the MAC

3. Macs are expensive and PCs are cheaper. Yes, that is true, but the MAC Mini (which is what I started using a few years ago) is a great starter unit to get familiar with the MAC OS and it works great. Prices for that start around $600. It is a great value and you can use it with your existing PC monitor. Mac laptops are more expensive, but man they look great and they work awesome.

4. I feel much more productive during the day as I am not spending time fixing a PC error, rebooting, dealing with a famous Microsoft update in the middle of the day or many other headaches I’ve had before. Since I’m on the computer most of the day, if I have any type of computer issue, I’m going to lose valuable “work time”.

5. I’ll save the best for last! The MAC mini in my office hasn’t been rebooted in over 2 months and my laptop in over a week. Can you say that about your PC? No way! I love this fact because I can stop what I’m working on at any time of the day and come back later without having to reboot. I’ve never had this type of luck with a PC.

I know MAC machines are much more expensive then PC’s, but costs have gone down. Since I started using a mac I feel so much more productive. I don’t have to stop what I’m doing to reboot because of another crashed application.
I thought I would take a break from writing about Social Media today and chat about using MAC’s since many of my friends ask me about the switch Hope you enjoyed the article.
